FEI HOLDS DRAW FOR ORDER IN MEET THE CANDIDATES SESSION
The FEI held a draw today (Tuesday, 2 November) to determine the order in which the three Presidential candidates will make their presentations at Thursday’s Meet the Candidates session in Taipei, the day before the Presidential election.
Brüttisellen, 2.11.10 red. (mk) Current FEI President HRH Princess Haya (JOR), who is seeking re-election for a second and final four-year term, will address delegates first, followed by Henk Rottinghuis (NED), with the current FEI First Vice President Sven Holmberg (SWE) drawn third in the order.
Brian Mangan, Chair of the FEI’s Audit and Compliance Committee, conducted the draw in the presence of the three Presidential candidates, using the system traditionally used for Nations Cup draws. Today’s draw was witnessed by FEI Secretary General Alex McLin, FEI General Counsel Lisa Lazarus, and FEI Legal Counsel Mikael Rentsch.
The draw was held in the Holiday Inn, East Taipei, venue for the FEI Geographical Group meetings. The Meet the Candidates session will be held in Taipei’s Grand Hyatt Hotel at 16.00 local time on 4 November. Each candidate will be allowed a 15-minute slot to make a presentation to delegates, followed by a 45-minute debate chaired by former BBC presenter and internationally renowned moderator, Sandy Chalmers.
National Federations have been asked to submit questions for the candidates in advance of the session, but questions may also be taken from the floor during the session. Only National Federations representatives will be able to put questions to the candidates at the session.
The Meet the Candidates session will be broadcast live and free-to-view on FEI TV as part of FEI TV’s live-streaming of the General Assembly. Coverage of Thursday’s sessions, including Meet the Candidates, runs from 09.00-17.30 (local Taipei time). Coverage of Friday’s General Assembly, including the Presidential election, will be available on live-streaming from 09.00-17.30 (local Taipei time).
