GERMAN JUNIOR EVENTERS SWEEP TO VICTORY

German youngsters continued their extraordinary run of form through the 2010 sub-senior FEI Championship calendar as the Junior squad claimed the team title as well as individual gold and silver at the FEI Junior European Eventing Championships in Bad Segeberg at the weekend. In command from the outset, the winning team completed 15 points clear of the silver medallists from France, while Italy claimed bronze ahead of Ireland. And in the individual rankings the formidable strength of the German challenge was set in stone as the home runners filled five of the top six placings. In Muttenz wurde bei herrlichem aber sehr warmem Wetter der letzte Lauf des diesjährigen Racer Bikes Cup ausgetragen. Im sehr hochkarätigen Feld bei den Elite Herren und Frauen gab es knappe Entscheidungen. Bei den Herren konnte sich Florian Vogel auf den letzten Metern gegen Ralph Näf mit 11 Sekunden Vorsprung durchsetzen Noch knapper gewann Nino Schurter den Sprint gegen Julien Absalon um Rang 3: eine halbe Sekunde entschiedet zugunsten von Weltmeister Nino Schurter. Im Dreier-Sprint der Frauen gewann die Europameisterin Katrin Leumann vor Marielle Saner und Esther Süss. Top American, Canadian and Mexican riders between the ages of 14 and 21 showcased their talents in Jumping, Dressage, Eventing and Reining but it was the host nation that dominated affairs when taking nine gold medals. »
